Indians ease past Vancouver

SPOKANE - Seth Spivey, Fernando Vivili and Luke Tendler homered and the Spokane Indians scored six runs in the first inning to pull away from the Vancouver Canadians 9-3 in Northwest League baseball Sunday before 3,755 at Avista Stadium.

Spivey hit his first professional home run on his birthday and leads the Indians with a .348 batting average.

Tendler (.346) and Spivey each had three hits and Tendler, Zach Cone and Juremi Profar all had two RBIs. Cone tripled in Marcus Green in the first inning.

Spokane starter Reed Garrett picked up his second win, striking out two and allowing three runs in five innings.

The Indians host Tri-City for a three-game series starting Tuesday night at 6:30 at Avista Stadium.
