EDUCATION: Core of funding problem

| July 6, 2014 9:00 PM

A few weeks ago Mr. David Adler submitted a well written and thorough article advocating for increasing the education budget. He deserves 9 out of 10 points since he failed to address the issue of where to obtain these funds.

From my perspective, there are two alternatives: 1) raise taxes on the already overtaxed citizens of Idaho (which seems to be the easiest for our legislators and local governmental entities and NIC board), and 2) redirect funds from other projects/departments to the education budget.

Having worked in big business for 25 years and education for 10 years, I can say without a doubt both are extremely top heavy with administration and should be thoroughly vetted by an outside agency.

However, at this time I would not increase the education budget by one thin dime until this state develops a backbone and eliminates Common Core, an intrusive and progressive liberal indoctrination. Several other states have smartened up and got rid of it. We have enough intelligent people in three groups to establish education criteria. Those groups would be parents, teachers (not administration) and large and small business people.

Mr. Adler, where do you propose we get the money to increase the education budget?
