Spokane adds size, strength

with Hungarian defenseman

SPOKANE - The Spokane Chiefs selected 18-year-old defenseman Tamas Laday of Hungary with the 42nd overall pick in the 2014 Canadian Hockey League Import Draft. Laday (6-foot-7, 212 pounds), adds considerable size and strength to the Chiefs' roster.

"Tamas's size allows us to get bigger as a team, an area which we felt we needed to improve on," Spokane Director of Player Personnel Chris Moulton said. "He is not afraid to engage physically."

During the 2013-14 season, Laday played a combined 63 games between four clubs at both the under-18 and U-20 levels.

He will join Austrian import forward Dominic Zwerger as Spokane's two non-North American players.
