COEUR d'ALENE - A 49-year-old Post Falls man was sentenced June 25 to six years in state prison for felony driving under the influence.

Glenn Lange was sentenced by Kootenai County District Judge Lansing Haynes, who said Lange would be eligible for parole after two years. According to a press release from the Kootenai County Prosecutor's Office, the conviction was Lange's seventh for driving under the influence.

The press release adds that Lange pleaded guilty to the offense, along with a resisting arrest charge, which stemmed from a March incident. During the incident, the report states that Lange was seen driving under the influence by neighbors who were familiar with his history of doing so.

"When Post Falls Police officers caught up with Lange, he locked himself inside his automobile and refused to exit, causing officers to have to break the window to apprehend Lange," the release states.

The man also refused to provide a breath alcohol concentration sample, the release states.

"The sentence serves as a reminder that driving under the influence is a serious offense that puts the lives of the driver and others at risk," Kootenai County Prosecutor Barry McHugh said in the release. "Coming in the week before what will be a very active Fourth of July weekend, we in law enforcement ask all who are drinking to use a designated driver or a taxi cab rather than getting behind the wheel of a car."
