• CASA fundraiser is July 19

On July 19 at the Liberty Lake Golf Course, golfers will hit the green for a good cause.

Greens for CASA KIDS, a fundraiser to directly support the hundreds of kids in North Idaho victimized by abuse and violence, is an all-day event at the golf course. It begins at 9 a.m. with a brief meet and greet, then golfers will make their way around the course at 10 a.m.

Lunch will be provided between the ninth and 10th hole and, after the round of golf is completed, there will be dinner featuring music and both live and silent auctions.

The cost to golf is $55 per person and organizers are asking golfers to register by July 7. To register, or for further information, contact Richard at (208) 640-1312 or Christen at (509)216-2376.

• Oldtown man dies in crash

PRIEST LAKE - A 50-year-old Oldtown man died in a motorcycle-SUV crash Monday afternoon near Priest Lake, Idaho State Police reported.

Steven R. Pitts was riding his 2005 Yamaha northbound in the 6500 block of Eastshore Road at 2:44 p.m. when he failed to maintain his lane around a curve, police reported.

Pitts' vehicle struck a southbound 2001 Nissan Pathfinder driven by John M. Marshall, 67, of Spokane, police reported. Pitts, who was wearing a helmet, died at the scene, while Marshall was uninjured.
