Transient arrested at Super 1 Foods

| July 1, 2014 9:00 PM

HAYDEN - A transient, originally from Wisconsin, was arrested Saturday after he would not leave Super 1 Foods.

John Stieg had already been trespassed from the location once in June and, according to a Kootenai County Sheriff's Office report, was inside the store Saturday, "yelling at customers and causing a scene."

When a deputy contacted Stieg, who was being detained by store management, the man told the officer that he remembered being trespassed earlier in the month.

According to the report, a store manager told officers Stieg arrived around 10:30 a.m. and was immediately told to leave because of the previous incident.

"At that time, Stieg stated he was buying chicken and that he would leave and never come back," the report states.

However, according to the manager, Stieg stayed in the parking lot and reportedly asked customers coming into the store to give him money. Several customers allegedly told the manager that they were being "disturbed" by the man, the report states.

An hour later, Stieg once more entered the store and was again confronted by the manager. The man told the manager that he was just buying cigarettes and, according to the report, Stieg was "crying and yelling" inside the store.

Stieg was handcuffed, placed in a patrol vehicle, transported to the Kootenai County Public Safety Building and charged with trespassing.
