Sharon Jean Fackler Berger, 76

Sharon "Shane" Jean Berger was called home to be with the Lord on June 26, 2014. She was surrounded by her beloved family and the love of her life, her husband, Merlin.

Sharon was born April 2, 1938, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, the daughter and oldest child of James and LuDean Fackler. As a young girl, Sharon loved being on the hay crew for her aunt Molly and uncle Zane. Her farmer’s heart stayed with her throughout her life, whether it was a verdant field of grain or a simple pot of flowers.

Sharon grew up in Boise where she graduated from high school. She met and married Merlin Berger in 1975, and they blended their children into their lives for the next 39 years. Sharon and Merlin opened the Frame of Mind Gallery in 1983, and together ran the successful business in downtown Coeur d’Alene.

Family was central to Sharon’s life, and she loved and was adored in return by so many.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, James and LuDean; sister, Lana Meeks; granddaughter, Rebekah Hanson; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Einor and Hazel Berger; brothers-in-law, Robert and Roy Berger; and sister-in-law, Nelda Jean Berger.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Merlin, of Post Falls; children: Jade Wilhite (Doug Schneider), of Craig, Colo., Lynee Richards (Jeffrey), of Post Falls, Idaho; Terry Berger (Carri) of Wasilla, Alaska; Natalie Jones, of Post Falls, Idaho; Jeffrey Berger (Beth), of Post Falls, Idaho; and Julie Allen (Stan) of Gresham, Ore., brothers, Dale Fackler (Irene Facklerova), of Eagle, Idaho, and David Fackler (Dena), of Tempe, Ariz., sister, Dorothy Ann Hugg, of Boise, Idaho; brother-in-law, Glenn Berger (Beverly), of Chetek, Wis., uncle and aunts, Ernest Fackler of Boise, Idaho; Katherine Holmes, of Reno, Nev., Lois Bartlett, of Solon Springs, Wis., and Mildred Suess, of Minneapolis, Minn., 27 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, July 9, at Yates Funeral Home, 744 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene. Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Thursday, July 10, in the Jacklin Building, Kootenai County Fairgrounds, with a reception following. A private family burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Yates Funeral Home is in care of arrangements.
