NIC: Off target with gun ban

| January 31, 2014 8:00 PM

I just read the article regarding the opposition by the North Idaho College Board of Trustees to weapons on the campus. To start with, I am vehemently opposed to the actions of the NIC Board, as their actions, if allowed to pass, will create another gun free zone, or as many say, “a target rich environment.”

Secondly, the board should research, or have their legal counsel do it, HR 218, or LEOSA (Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act). To the best of my knowledge and research, and according to the Anti-Gun California Attorney General, Kamiah Harris, no entity, whether state, city, or local, can make and pass any law which trumps HR 218. It is supreme in the area of concealed carry. So before they go running off voting their collective less one consciences, they should probably research their actions carefully and make sure they are right. HR 218 was passed to remove much of the ambiguity surrounding concealed carry by a large group of qualified persons, active, reserve and retired, and to provide a trained and ready group of qualified concealed carry persons that would and will be available in certain events.
