Barbara Sue Ashley, 55
Barbara "Barbi " Ashley went to be with her Lord and Savior at the age of 55 on January 27, 2014, after battling illnesses for many years.
Barbi was born October 17, 1958, in Dayton, OH, the youngest of 10 children. As a young girl her family moved to Dallas, TX, where she resided until she moved to Coeur d'Alene, ID, in 1996.
Some knew Barbi as a Teachers Aid for the Mesquite, TX, and Post Falls, ID, school districts. Others knew her for her love of cooking and baking, or her devotion to church and volunteering. Barbi always did more for others than for herself. She enjoyed many hobbies, such as cooking and baking, making crafts, gardening and, of course, she would never miss a chance to go thrift shopping!
Barbi's whole world was her two children; her love was strong for her son, Michael Saint, and her daughter, Vera (Saint) Byrd. She also had a special place in her heart for their spouses, Sarah (Nilsen) Saint and Andrew Byrd. Barbi is also survived by the father of her children, Lee Saint, and three beautiful granddaughters: Paetlyn and Everlee Byrd, and Ashley Saint. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Louise (McIntosh) Ashley.
The family is very thankful for the loving care provided by the nurses at Kootenai Medical Center who helped care for Barbi in her final days, and to all the wonderful doctors and pharmacists who took very good care of her over the years.
A "Celebration of Life" will be held for Barbi at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at Lake City Community Church in Coeur d'Alene. Barbi's wonderful heart, since of humor, and her delicious cooking/baking may be missed, but our memories of her will live on forever.
