Robert "Bob" Bernhart

Robert "Bob" Bernhart passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 26, after a long battle with heart complications.

He is best known as being the world's greatest Papa to seven beautiful grandchildren: Colby, Connor, Shaylee, Riley, Payton, Angelina, and Samantha. Not only was he the world's greatest Papa, he was the world's greatest husband for 34 years to Debra. He was also a fantastic father to his three children: David (his favorite oldest son), Joshua (his favorite middle child), and Lindsay (his favorite youngest child), and we cannot forget his absolute favorite children, his dogs, Chipper and Mousse.

Dad enjoyed being around family and friends. He loved all babies, and all babies loved him. Dad only met one dog that didn't like him, who preceded him in death. Good luck with that in heaven, Dad. Dad was full of life and opinions, and he wasn't afraid to share both. He had an ability to find humor in any situation, even when the joke was on him, like the time he wore Mom's pants mistakenly (sorry, Dad ... yes, we're still on that ...).

Dad was proud of his military service, even though he didn't talk about it much. He loved visiting new places and seeing new sights. He loved spending time on the coast, camping and fishing. But he mostly loved snuggling all of his grandbabies.

He is preceded in death by his father, Melvin, and his nephew, Anthony Legard. He is survived by his wife, Debra, his children and grandchildren, his mother, Della Fay, sisters Sheri and Vicki, brothers Kevin and Keith, and too many other family members to list in our 350 word allotment.

Services will be Saturday, February 1, at English Funeral Chapel, 1700 N. Spokane St., Post Falls, ID, at 9 a.m. In lieu of flowers ,donations can be made to the Anthony Legard Scholarship Fund at US Bank, or mail to P.O. Box 901, Osburn, ID, 83849.
