Mary Elizabeth McDaniel, 87

Mary Elizabeth McDaniel, age 87, of Englewood, Colorado, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 7, 2014.

Mary lived in many places during her childhood with her parents, USN Captain Irving Barry McDaniel, and Katharine Huntington McDaniel. She graduated from Miami U. in Oxford, Ohio, in 1948, worked for Shell Oil several years, then went to law school and became an Assistant District Attorney for the City of Los Angeles. Mary retired to Grass Valley, CA, and Hayden, ID, before moving to Englewood in 2008.

Mary had many hobbies: knitting, cross-stitch, bridge, bowling, traveling, gardening, HO gage model trains, and reading. Mary will be missed by many.

She is survived by niece, Katharine (Kitsie) Ballard of Centennial, CO; nephews Frank Baker Melson of Milton, FL, and John Holland Melson of Tequesta, FL; and their families.

The family will have a memorial service at a later date. Interment will be in Long Beach, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Humane Society of the United States, or the Denver Dumb Friends League.
