GOVERNOR: Time to pour out the tea

| January 8, 2014 8:00 PM

No sooner do I read an excellent North Idaho Business Journal article about how our state, county and city governments must be ego free and cooperate to attract 1,000+ jobs like Twin Falls and Idaho’s Magic Valley have done, than I read a guest column from a tea party guy whose sole purpose is obstruction and the word “NO.”

A.J. Balukoff (the Democrat running for governor of Idaho) should do everything he can to make sure the tea party candidate Russ Fulcher defeats Governor Butch Otter in the primary. That way Balukoff is virtually guaranteed a victory.

Lest we forget, the tea party gave us Democratic U.S. senators named Reid from Nevada, McCaskill from Missouri, Donnelly from Indiana and Coons from Delaware because the tea party nominated Sharon Angle (who labeled Latino students Asian), Todd Akin (who said there is “legitimate rape”), Richard Mourdock (who said pregnancy by rape is God’s will), and Christine O’Donnell (who claimed to be a witch on a TV talk show) … guaranteed losers, all. And all defeated mainstream Republicans through low voter turnout gimmicks like caucuses. Fulcher, too, should lose handily.

Mourdock and Akin’s remarks had the RNC begging them to withdraw, and crippled close U.S. Senate races in other states like Montana. Maybe even aided Obama in Ohio or further east in Virginia.

Oh, that’s right! The tea party is not a party. “It’s a movement,” says Mama Grizzly Palin who should also say “If it’s brown then flush it down.” I couldn’t agree more, so where’s the Charmin when you need it? It’s time to flush the unelectable liberal-aiding and enemy-making tea conspiracy.

Even Reagan said, “Never turn an adversary into an enemy,” but that’s all the tea party and its pundits can do is make enemies out of adversaries.

As for me, I’ll take four more years of Butch Otter!
