Ethel "Anne" Calkins, 67
Anne was born in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, August 9, 1946, and lived in Post Falls most of her life. She passed away January 5, 2014, after a long battle with diabetes. She was most recently a self-employed beautician, until she retired two years ago. She made many close friends standing behind that beauty chair, since the time she was 17 years old.
Anne loved her family and enjoyed hosting holidays at her house. "More the Merrier," she would say. The invites were always open to anyone who wanted to stop by. Actually, the house was open to anyone to stop and visit and have a cup of coffee or a Pepsi, 365 days a year. She also enjoyed the water, spending as much time as possible in places like the CDA River, Bayview on Lake Pend Oreille, and Quinn's Hot Springs.
A few words that family and friends used to describe Anne: Proud, hardworking, protective mother, made the best macaroni salad, giddy over her grandchildren; we ALL love her, caregiver, loved, felt safe, and loved in her home.
Anne is survived by her daughter, Tawnya; son, Robbie; grandchildren: Jazmine, Nataya, Nathan, Beau, Jason and Jeralyn; her great-granddaughter, Kaylyn; her significant other, Larry; brother, Wayne; and numerous nieces and nephews. Anne was preceded in death by her husband Art; her mom and dad, Margaret H. and Stanley C. Wilk; and her brothers, Roger and Richard.
Please join the family in a potluck "Celebration of Life" for Anne on January 18, 2014, from noon to 2 p.m., at the Post Falls Senior Center, 1215 E. 3rd Avenue. No funeral services will be held.
