Roger Lowell Bussey, 70

| January 3, 2014 11:51 AM

Roger L. Bussey passed away peacefully at Kootenai Memorial Hospital on January 2, 2014 at seventy years of age.

He was the loving husband of his “beautiful red-head,” Marilyn, for the past fifty years. Roger was the beloved father of his two daughters, Simone and her husband Thomas Nichols, and Sutton and her husband Keith Johnston. He was the very proud grandfather of four grandchildren: Hannah, Jadon, Ethan, and Marissa who will cherish his memory always. He is also survived by his best friend and older brother Gordon Bussey, and was preceded in death by his parents Robert (Lee) and Lunetta Bussey.

Roger was born March 6, 1943 in Oregon. After completing high school he served in the United States Navy until he was medically discharged with back problems that followed him the rest of his life. Roger met and married Marilyn Stork in the winter of 1964. They adored one another for fifty beautiful years and were always the center of each others’ universe.

Roger was a hard-working man. He worked in some type of sales all of his life, but was always most proud of the thirty very successful years he spent as a Snap-On Tool dealer. Later in life he joined Marilyn as a realtor. He made many friends in the Coeur d’ Alene and Sandpoint area, and always believed this was home. There was nothing he loved more than watching the river roll by his house. In his younger years he was an avid sports car racer, and carried a passion for fast cars always.

There will be a memorial service for Roger on Monday, January 6, at 2 p.m., in the afternoon at Heritage Baptist Church, 8076 W. Prairie Avenue, Post Falls. Roger’s family would like to extend special thanks to the amazing nursing staff at the Kootenai Memorial intensive care unit for the tender and loving care given to Roger in his illness. If desired, donations in memory of Roger can be made to The Salvation Army, which was his favorite charity as they provided Christmas gifts to his mother when she was a child.
