Elaine M. Prescott, 90

March 23, 1923 - February 18, 2014

Elaine Mercedes Prescott of Pocatello, ID passed away at the age of 90, on Tuesday morning February 18, at Portneuf Medical Center.

Elaine was born at 6:15 a.m. on March 23, 1923, in Pocatello to Arthur Thomas Mathews and Hanna Iverson. She grew up in Pocatello and the surrounding area. On January 2, 1941, Elaine married Aaron Prescott in Malad City, ID and their first child was born later that year. Their son, Richard, was born in 1942, and their second daughter, Jolene, finished up the family in 1944.

While living in Pocatello, Aaron worked for the Union Pacific, but Elaine worked even more hours caring for their children and home. As if that weren't enough for Elaine, when her children were grown she opened up her own clothing store called, appropriately enough, Elaine's Fashions.

Elaine and Aaron lived in the Pocatello area until they moved to Coeur d'Alene in 1981 to be near their children and grandchildren. They were both active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

To her sorrow, Elaine survived the passing of all three of her children and her husband of 60 years. The last of whom passed away more than a dozen years ago. Following that, Elaine moved back to Pocatello to live closer to her sisters, five of whom preceded her in death, leaving one sister, Lorraine, age 82, in Idaho Falls.

Elaine was preceded in death by her husband and three children. She is survived by 14 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren and counting - the newest due to arrive this week.

Funeral services were held February 22 in Pocatello, and interment is at the Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Pocatello. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.corneleisonfh.com.
