HELP: You all answered call

| February 14, 2014 8:00 PM

Last week, St. Vincent de Paul sent out a call to action requesting food donations for the HELP Center. In the subsequent days our pantries have been literally stocked to the ceiling with an incredible variety and abundance of donated provisions that will help provide meals for the hundreds of individuals and families who pass through our doors seeking assistance. You brought us nearly a thousand pounds of canned foods, soups, milk, dry goods, pet food, paper products and cash gifts. We are continuously amazed and deeply moved by the outpouring of support. The donations are, in a way, an endorsement of our mission at St. Vincent de Paul, to give service to those struggling, those who are in need and to help others help themselves. You demonstrate what it means to be a community: An alliance of compassionate individuals mobilizing to care for its people. We build each other up, and by virtue build a stronger, healthier community. At St. Vincent’s we are only able to offer the services we do — the thousands of unduplicated services — because of you.

Thank you for your quick response to need, for your selfless giving and for your humanity.
