Joyce Huson, 82

| February 13, 2014 11:44 AM

Joyce Huson, 82, passed away the morning of February 11, 2014, here in Coeur d’Alene.

Born on May 25, 1931, in Libby, Mont., she spent six years there. Joyce was adopted by Barney and Martha Pashek after her seventh birthday. Spokane, Washington, was her new home now. Her new father, Barney, owned Coleman Coal and Heating Oil, and employed Joyce on the weekends for extra allowance. After graduating from Central Valley High School, Joyce volunteered for the U.S.O. at Fairchild A.F.B. where she met her soon to be husband, Thomas Huson.

After 20 years, Joyce’s family moved back to the Spokane area prospering in Real Estate and development. In the spring of 1977, her husband, Tom, was killed in a boating accident. Joyce and her two sons recovered. Son Thomas went back to college, and young Bryan continued school, helping mom as well - he stepped up for mom at nine years of age.

Mom then trained and became the hostess at the Iron Horse Restaurant. Mom met and made a lot of friends these past 27 years. She has talked and laughed with me these past six years, speaking of the many who she considered to be her friends.

There will be a Celebration of Life for my mom, Joyce Huson, at the Iron Horse Restaurant at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16. I hope everyone can come by to visit and relax, and share the warmth and kindness Joyce gave us when she was here. I look forward to meeting everyone.

Her son, Tom
