FREEDOM: Right to religious beliefs
Why do Christie Wood and Brenda Hammond want to use discrimination as an excuse to discriminate against my individual freedoms? Let’s see. They wish to discriminate against me and my religious beliefs, because I happen to hold different beliefs than they do, and they feel my beliefs might cause another harm? Is that logical? Or moral? The answer to their inane questions are relatively simple.
If my physician refused to give me a much needed transfusion, I would get a new physician.
If a licensed counselor failed to apply the most effective intervention methods, get a counselor who will.
I have total freedom to CHOOSE who I do business with, who treats my physical ailments, who dispenses my medicines, who counsels me, etc. In fact, we are often directed to “interview” our doctors, lawyers, pharmacists, counselors, etc.
Why are these women trying to short circuit my individual freedoms to choose? Or an Idaho business’ freedom to choose who they do business with? I suspect that these women both think they know better than I do about what is better for me — but even if they do (which I highly doubt) it is my decision, not theirs!
Both HB 426 and HB 427 provide sweeping, broad, fundamental guarantees of individual rights, and not government dictation of what is right or wrong. Our government exists to protect its citizens from another government or power trying to exercise its world view over them; not to define moral right or wrong.
