VET: Disabled, and dis-respected

| February 2, 2014 8:00 PM

I have a friend, a 100 percent disabled veteran who lives in Kellogg. During the past 10 years, my friend was diagnosed with bladder cancer, which also migrated to kidney cancer. He went through all kinds of tests, medications, chemo, etc.

Approximately a year and a half ago his condition reached the point where surgery was needed, so Spokane VA sent my friend to Portland to have his bladder and left kidney removed. While on the table having a kidney removed, they discovered cancer in his prostate and other areas, all of which were removed, and he was cut, clipped, snipped and stitched back together.

My friend was informed that he would be taking all kinds of extra medications to deal with pain and compensation for the missing parts to make the body function in a somewhat normal manner. Here is where the story takes a KILLER TURN! My friend’s doctor got shipped out to go play real war games out of country. Two months ago, my friend went to his mobile VA appointment as scheduled. His new doctor refuses to refill any of his prescriptions and calls my friend, the veteran, a drug addict! No pain meds, no blood pressure meds, no sleep aids or ANY OF HIS OTHER NEEDED MEDICATIONS!

This supposed doctor is KILLING a 100 percent DISABLED VETERAN! Why?

Can anyone help? Or must we just sit back and watch this doctor kill our friend? Trust the VA? This supposed doctor must be dealt with. Can anyone help?
