Raynay Salsbury Schaffer, 68

Raynay passed away peacefully at home Dec. 19, 2014, surrounded by family. Just the way she wanted it.

Raynay was born in Sydney, Mont. on July 26, 1946, to Raymond and Emma Salsbury. She moved to Coeur d'Alene with her parents and four brothers, and graduated from Coeur d'Alene High School in 1964. In 1965, Raynay married Lawrence Schaffer.

Raynay and Larry raised their two children, Carrie and LJ (Larry) Schaffer in Hayden, Idaho, residing there for the past 34 years, close to Raynay's twin brother, Roger Salsbury.

As a young woman, Raynay worked very hard at the Safeway Bakery. She worked for the Forest Service as well, and retired from the Service in Coeur d'Alene after 13 years.

Raynay enjoyed crafts, gardening, working in her yard and tending to her pond. She loved to cook and spend time with her friends and family - especially her grandchildren.

Raynay was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Emma Salsbury; and brothers Boyd Salsbury, Dale Salsbury and Lloyd Salsbury. She is survived by her husband, Larry Schaffer, Sr., daughter Carrie Schaffer, and son LJ Schaffer; grandchildren Josh Schaffer, Riley Schaffer, Hunter Schaffer, Karden Schaffer, and her newest great-grandbaby Ali Raynay Schaffer; brother and sister-in-law Roger and Robin Salsbury.

Raynay was loved and cared for by numerous friends and family.

We will have a Celebration of Raynay's Life at a later time.

Don't think of her as gone away -

her journey's just begun,

life holds so many facets -

this earth is only one.

Just think of her as resting

from the sorrows and the tears

in a place of warmth and comfort

where there are no days and years.

Think how she must be wishing

that we could know today

how nothing but our sadness

can really pass away.

And think of her as living

in the hearts of those she touched ...

for nothing loved is ever lost -

and she was loved so much.
