Reemos Powell 'Mac' McDaniel, 86 Resided at Rose Lake, Idaho Died December 11, 2014 Born May 14, 1928, in Caddo County, Oklahoma

| December 18, 2014 7:00 PM

Mac was third of seven children and spent the early years of his childhood in Oklahoma. His family was finally displaced by the great depression and they moved to Bakers Field, California where they could find work to support a growing family. Finally the family moved on to Redondo Beach, California where Mac lived until his early adulthood.

In his younger adult years, Mac worked primarily as a mechanic. He also spent time traveling with a friend exploring the western part of the United States. During this exploration period, Mac would find odd jobs to support himself and once his curiosity was satisfied in an area, he would proceed to move on and explore different areas. One place in particular that he fell in love with was a ranch in Colorado where he met a single older woman (Ma Thatcher) whom he worked for and help her run the place.

Mac joined the Army on September 28, 1950 during the Korean War. He received 3 Korean Service Medals, a United Nations Korea Service Medal and an Army Occupation Medal. He was discharged on June 28th 1952 as a Corporal - E4. Afterwards Mac served 4 years in the Army Reserves.

Mac married Sharon Harlene Chesmore on September 20, 1958. Together they moved to the Silver Valley in 1961. Mac worked as a miner at both the Bunker Hill Mine and the Sunshine Mine (which he retired from). He also worked in the timber industry throughout his career.

Mac loved to hunt and fish, but fishing was his favorite pastime. He especially liked both river fishing and jigging for blueback. He even moved to Grand Coulee, WA for a short period of time just for the fishing. He got quite a kick out of fishing from the Grand Coulee dam. Mac was also an avid gardener and was able to successfully grow things that everyone else said wouldn't grow in the area. With a little TLC, Mac could grow it. From peanuts to watermelon, peach trees to grapes, he dabbled in a little bit of everything.

Mac & Sharon raised their 4 children on 49 acres in the Medimont, ID area. Mac is survived by his former spouse Sharon McDaniel of Pinehurst, ID. His 4 children Jesse & Jill McDaniel of Rathdrum, ID; Clay & Marie McDaniel of Halendale, CA; Byron & Mary (McDaniel) Weingart of Rose Lake, ID; Stuart & Janice (McDaniel) Goodson of Rose Lake, ID. He is also survived by two brothers and one sister; Red McDaniel of Rose Lake, ID; Pat McDaniel of Wardner, ID; and Carol McDaniel (Lamb) of Henderson, NV. Nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren (another due this spring) survive him. He was preceded in death by his parents Powell and Omelia (Dodson) McDaniel of Hayden Lake ID and three brothers; Jesse McDaniel of California, Leroy McDaniel of Lane ID and Bufford McDaniel of Rose Lake ID.

Mac's final resting place will be at the Rose Lake Cemetery come late spring to early summer. This is to accommodate out of town relatives who are unable to make the trip at this time. If you wish to join his family at this time please let one of his kids know and they will get in touch with you when the date is set.

If you would like to make a donation please do so to Hospice House in Hayden ID. We have only good things to say about this facility and the care they gave to our father in his last days.

Yates Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of final arrangements. Please visit Reemos's online memorial and sign his guest book at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
