CARTOON: Not a fair reflection
Did anyone else pay attention to the “political cartoon” in the Friday, Dec. 5 Coeur d’Alene Press? Was anyone else outraged? At first, I couldn’t believe something that disgusting would appear in our paper. But I was reminded by someone that these types of “cartoons” are sometimes meant to “draw a snoozing public’s attention to important matters.” So, is the important matter Islamic fanatics or capital punishment?
What sort of person would think up something that appalling? Does that person REALLY equate the legal execution of convicted — and usually MANY times appealed — criminals with the beheading of innocent people by Islamic fanatics?
How many Americans believe this way? Is the brainwashing and socialization of our great country almost complete? We are a nation of laws, as we have been reminded of many, many times in the past few weeks. At least we are supposed to be. Capital punishment is legal. For those who think the law is wrong — change the law, if you are in the majority. However, I sincerely hope you can NOT succeed!
I understand these “cartoons” are syndicated and most likely originate in the most liberal/socialist bastions of our country. So I choose to believe the majority of freedom loving Americans would also be outraged by this “cartoon.”
