BODYCAM: Try it on, Mr. President

| December 12, 2014 8:00 PM

In the Coeur d’Alene Press (Dec. 2) a story appears describing President Obama’s plan to purchase 50,000 body cameras for law enforcement officers throughout the United States.

As we know our president claims he has the most transparent administration of all time. To this end I offer a suggestion which could demonstrate his leadership skills to the world.

The president, along with Joe Biden, Valerie Jarrett and Eric Holder would be issued their own body cameras to be worn until the election in 2016. Think of the trust this would instill between the folks and this administration. To further display this administration’s transparency, a new television broadcast station would be initiated called the B.C.N. (Body Camera Network.) The channel would run on a 24-hour feed.

The cameras would only be de-activated when the subjects were in their place of residence. Think of this as the ultimate reality show which would far surpass the ratings of say the Real Housewives of wherever. Try to imagine the conversations between Al Sharpton (82 visits to the White House) and our president. Add to that the body camera pick up of the discussions between Eric Holder and Mr. Obama discussing the demise of the strong robber in Ferguson, Mo., and their plans to reorganize all the police departments across the country.

President Obama would not be required to activate his camera while speaking to the public both in person or while in front of the media. Come to think of it, his personal camera would be in great shape when he leaves office as most of his ramblings take place in front of cameras. As we all know the important conversations, the ones we should hear, take place in various offices within the White House. We the people have the foolish belief that these people work for us.

In conclusion the suggestion is put forward that MSNBC, which has terrible ratings, could be easily converted to B.C.N. (Body Camera Network). This change would be a money maker for the parent company. What say you Rachel Maddow and Chris Matthews?
