VETS: The gift keeps on giving

The Christmas holiday season is here, and for some local families the best present will be the safe return of a friend or relative from military service in Iraq or Afghanistan.

We have a special gift for U.S. servicemen and women who have served a tour in Iraq or Afghanistan. The Buck commemorative knife is a gift made possible by Buck Knives, Inc., selling us the knives for only the cost to make them. Our donors pay the manufacturing cost of the knives. My wife and I pay all expenses of the program.

Veterans of previous wars in the following categories are eligible for a Buck commemorative knife:

• Medal of Honor recipient

• Purple Heart recipient

• Prisoner of War

• Military Chaplain service in country to line troops

• Military Corpsmen service in country to line troops

• Medivac pilots and air crew in country to line troops

This offer does not apply to previous recipients of a knife. Proof of service and/or award must be furnished. Must be present to receive the knife. Quantities are limited.

Special thanks to God; Chuck Buck, CJ Buck, the Buck family, Buck Knives, Inc.; Mike Patrick, managing editor, the Coeur d’Alene Press and the Post Falls Press; and all our donors.
