SHADOWS: Shed light on white
In response to Tony Stewart’s article “Stepping Out of the Shadows,” I beg to differ with his opinion. The white conservative ratio to minorities whether they be LGBT or nationalities is not such a bad thing for Idaho, many of the white conservatives that have flocked to this area came from minority rich cities or states. Many of these people who came were either fire department, police, or public servants. The equal minorities or higher minorities to white ratio is the reason they moved here, if you have lived in those environments it’s easy to see why they wanted less of the high minority environment. As we wallow in reverse discrimination throughout the nation, it’s not OK to be a white conservative. If we were able to reach this utopia of diversity in Idaho, would we then be able to hear the call to daily prayer that our president feels is the most beautiful sound to hear from our new mosque in Coeur d’Alene? We can openly be gay in the military and sports, basically anything goes in the new America — drugs, sex and political corruption. Is it too much to ask for a small portion of the nation to be conservative or predominately white?
It’s an easy fix to move to a very diverse city anywhere in America if Coeur d’Alene feels too conservative or not liberal enough for an individual or family. If the new America makes one more city like Ferguson, Mo., will that be a better more diverse America? Mr. Stewart makes it sound shameful that we haven’t reached the minority quota like the rest of the nation, should we put in a minority conduit to the outside so we can attain this level Mr. Stewart speaks of? I believe that it’s all right to be a white conservative in America, and I don’t feel that it’s fair to discriminate against someone with conservative views like myself and many others that I know. I’m not being condemning or judgmental against any group, I think that Bob McAdams says it way better than I in the Nov. 22 My Turn, “This isn’t a color issue” Coeur d’Alene Press. There are many colored families that I would rather have for a neighbor than good old white trash. But I don’t have any reason for Tony Stewart to become the white ratio to minority monitor. Maybe Mr. Stewart needs a vacation to Detroit, Ferguson or San Francisco. Coeur d’Alene and Idaho don’t have to match the rest of the nation with any government ratios or population quota, I think our nation needs to get rid of political correctness, and applaud good Christian values for our families. Let us give thanks for our good fortune to live where we live in America, and be watchful of too much and too many liberal views. If we were to correspond with the Ferguson Chamber of Commerce, how would they view this issue?
