Ronald 'Ron' Dean Smith, 69
Feb. 3, 1945 - Nov. 24, 2014
Ronald D. Smith, 69, passed away with family by his side on Nov. 24, 2014, in Post Falls, Idaho.
Ron was born in Gridley, Calif., on Feb. 3, 1945, to Arnold and Orpha Smith. He was raised in Libby, Mont., alongside his brothers Terry and James, and sisters Barbara, Patricia, Mary and Charlene.
Ron joined the Army at age 16 by lying about his age. After his service Ron tried his hand at several trades, but always went back to the trucking industry where he spent more than 40 years driving, eventually becoming a Broker Agent for other truckers.
Ron was preceded in death by his son, Sean Smith. He is survived by his wife, Mary; youngest son Aaron LaBrie, elder son Robert, and daughter Shannon Smith; his brothers and sisters, nephews, nieces and grandchildren.
We are thankful that his suffering has ended and he is finally at peace. He did not want to go out with fanfare, but in honor of his life we ask that you truckers honk your horn, and family and friends raise a glass in his memory.
He will be sincerely missed.
Cupid Trucker, signing off.
