Virginia Bernardo, 91, of Hayden, Idaho, died August 27, 2014. Virginia, daughter of Martin and Anna Wisniewski Tyckoski, wife of Michael Bernardo, passed away at Hospice House in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, and her son, Gary (Ellen) Bernardo. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Brian (Mary) Bernardo and Aimee (Clint) Lowry and four great-grandchildren, William Lowry, Harrison Lowry, Olivia Bernardo, and Alexander Bernardo, all living in Arizona.

She was born in Flint, Mich., the youngest of five children. She came to Los Angeles, Calif., for work after WWII where she met and married her husband Mike. While visiting Coeur d'Alene, they fell in love with this area. They spent their summers in Coeur d'Alene for many years before becoming full-time residents. They enjoyed making trips in their RV, traveling from Canada to Central Mexico. Virginia was an avid Mariner and Seahawk fan. She loved puzzles almost as much as she loved chocolate.

Virginia will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Private services were held on Aug. 29, 2014. The family wishes to thank the nurses and doctors at Kootenai Health and Medical Center, especially Dr. Books, and Hospice House of North Idaho, especially Dr. Ancker and (nurse) Maribee.
