Several spaces in The Resort Plaza Shops will fill with businesses in the next few weeks. We'll list the ones we're aware of here and add details as they get closer to opening.

Memory Lane Gems will open in mid-September in the former Gentlemen's Corner space. Owner Lynne Marie Rinker will offer vintage and unique jewelry, collectibles and historical photos of the area. She also has a store in Silver Lake Mall.

Women's clothing and accessories will be at Chamira in the former Painted Pony space. Christine Traylor plans to open the store in November.

The booking and information of Zip Line tours and the sale of related souvenirs will be at Climbworks in the former Smitten space. The website of www.climbworks.com lists special activities in Coeur d'Alene, Smoky Mountain in Tennessee and Oahu, Hawaii. Owner is Paul Buttars.

The Vault opens next week

Coffee, tea and grab-and-go beverages will be the specialty of The Vault when it opens next week in the former space of Java on Sherman at Sherman Avenue and Fourth Street.

However, the emphasis of the theme and decor of the place will be as a gathering place where lives intersected, according to owner Danelle Reagan. Since the building began as the Exchange Bank in 1904, the theme is to return that nostalgia. Seating will be inside for 80 at tables and the counter and for 15 outside.

The Vault will feature DOMA coffee, Elmwood Inn Fine Teas, juices, fruit cups, pastries, sandwiches, wraps, yogurt and beer and wine later this fall. Hours will be 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and expand as the beer and wine arrive.

The signature drink will be The Combination, a mix and sweet and spice and playing off the vault theme. Gift and Loyalty cards will be available. Phone 966-4193. The website will be www.vaultcda.com.

Beachouse closes today

Today is the last open day for the Beachouse Bar & Grill on Coeur d'Alene Lake Drive.

The building will be removed.

Hagadone Hospitality purchased the building and marina from Matelich Marine in 1988 and later opened the Beachouse. Evidently the building earlier was a motel.

Chef Tim Heinig will transfer to the Floating Green Restaurant at The Coeur d'Alene Resort Golf Course. Hours in the Beachouse today will be 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Phone 664-6464.

Now for the Tidbits

- Construction on the east side of Highway 95 between Aspen Sound and Natural Foods Grocery is for Metro Express Car Wash to open in the spring. Details later.

- And construction may happen on the space between Tomato Street and Walgreens at 305 W. Appleway. The new building evidently will house Chipotle Mexican Grill.

- Watch for news on Animal Medical Center on Fourth Street, a brewpub on Second Street, The Cork & Tap in Riverstone and Summit Cider on Schreiber Way. Evidently a Denny's in Crossroads is just a rumor.

- Last week I took a young Brit friend yard-sailing (a pun here) in the Hayden View area, which he called "posh." He explained "posh" is a nautical term for wealthy people booking seafares to see land rather than open water as long as possible - "port (left) out, starboard (right) home."

- Cashtration - Buying something expensive, which leaves you financially impotent.

- The bandage was wound around the wound.
