Library offers free computer training

Whether you have no computer skills at all or want to improve the skills you have, the Coeur d'Alene Public Library has free training opportunities during September.

The library's ReTool Box program is designed for those who have little or no computer experience. Four sessions are offered over a two-week period, by volunteers and staff with the Coeur d'Alene Public Library Foundation using the library's mobile laptop lab.

These hands-on, user-friendly sessions are offered in the Community Room at the library, 702 E. Front Ave., from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

* Tuesday, Sept. 2 - Introduction to Basic Computer Operations,

* Thursday, Sept. 4 - Online Searching and Internet Exploration

* Tuesday, Sept. 9 - Navigating Microsoft Office Word

* Thursday, Sept. 11 - Resumes and Saving Documents

The Foundation is also taking reservations for computer workshops led by IT Coordinator Christopher Brannon intended for participants who have some computer and keyboard skills.

These workshops are offered on Mondays in the Gozzer Room at the library and include:

* Basics in Word (word processing), Sept. 8, 10:30 a.m. to noon

* Basics in PowerPoint (presentations), Sept. 15, 5:30-7 p.m.

* Working with Facebook, Sept. 22, 10:30 a.m. to noon. This workshop requires that you have already signed up for email and Facebook accounts. If you need assistance creating accounts, please refer to the library's "Creating an Email Account" and "Creating a Facebook Account" brochures.
