RELIGIOUS FREEDOM: Belongs to all

| August 29, 2014 9:00 PM

I’d like to remind Mr. Leonard Brandt that there are many scriptures involving sexual misconduct to be found throughout the Bible. Most of those scriptures pertain to heterosexual behavior. I suppose that the real “religious freedom” argument to be found here, is to politically ignore anything inconvenient found in biblical scriptures. Otherwise, use that “religious freedom” argument as yet another excuse to attack this nation’s president.

I’d also like to remind Mr. Brandt that no one is denied rights who divorce, have mistresses, or make use of female “escort services.” Civil rights are not denied to anyone who eats meat from cloven-hoofed animals or shell fish. We don’t take umbrage over the mixing of fibers in the clothing we wear. Thus, where the real argument of “homophobia” comes into play, is to select out of massive biblical scriptures just one sin, and make heavy political use out of it. Meanwhile, ignoring the fact that Mr. Brandt probably doesn’t live closely to what is found in the rest of biblical scripture as it is. How about recognizing that gays also have a right to religious freedom and that such an issue isn’t a “my way or the highway” point of view?
