Harriet Joyce Peterson, 78

| August 29, 2014 9:00 PM

Harriet Joyce Peterson, 78, of Post Falls, passed away Aug. 23, 2014, peacefully at home exactly as she wished.

Harriet was born Nov. 27, 1935, in Los Angeles, Calif., to Harold and Elizabeth Nolan (Jackson) Haxton. She was raised in California where she remained and raised her own family in Tujunga and Burbank, Calif.

Harriet was married five times; her union with Brian Ross produced two daughters - Cathy and Christy Ross. She met Fred Peterson and produced daughter Michele "Shelly" Ross. They separated, and she married Marvin Gammel (deceased) and then Frank Isbell (deceased). Eighteen years later, Harriet was reunited with the love of her life, Fred Peterson. They were married in 1981, and were married 21 years when Fred passed away in 2002.

Harriet worked as the "Cookie lady" at Albertson's grocery store in Carson City, Nev. She eventually moved to North Idaho with her beloved dog "Buddy," settling 14 houses away from her daughter Michele, son-in-law Mike Allis and granddaughter Emily Allis in Post Falls.

Harriet was a huge fan of QVC, and was very fashion forward. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them watching "Jeopardy," "Wheel of Fortune" and playing cribbage! She loved watching the faces of her loved ones when she kicked their butts in the games - which always involved a wager of some kind.

Harriet was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; daughter Christy Ross and her parents, Harold and Elizabeth. She is survived by daughters Michele Ross of Post Falls and Cathy Cutro (Michael) of Illinois; grandchildren Michael Ryan, Erica, Justin, Cody, Spencer and Emily; sister Helen Petrotta of Oregon; and nieces Donna and Pam.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014, at Bell Tower Funeral Home, 3398 E. Jenalan Ave., Post Falls. Bell Tower Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. Please view Harriet's online memorial at www.belltowerfuneralhome.com.
