Gregory Robert Erickson, 68

Gregory Robert Erickson, 68, of Post Falls, Idaho, joined our Lord in Heaven on the 25th day of August 2014.

Greg was born in Mankato, Minn., on the 24th day of October 1946, to parents John Robert Erickson and Gladys Joy Viola Tillisch. Greg had two brothers, Stephen John Erickson and Bruce Wolstad Erickson. At the age of 10, Greg moved to Arlington, Calif., where he lived with family until graduating from Norte Vista High School.

Upon graduation, Greg moved to Coeur d'Alene and then enlisted in the Idaho National Guard. He married Carolyn Ann Zehm of Dalton Gardens on June 6, 1969. They had two sons, Todd Matthew Erickson and Trevor Ryan Erickson.

Later, Greg attended North Idaho College where he studied forestry. Greg spent much of his working life employed by the United States Forest Service. He was exceptional at identifying the flora and fauna of North Idaho.

In his youth, Greg enjoyed sports, especially baseball. He played third base and possessed the perquisite of a strong throwing arm. Greg was deeply religious and spent much time reading and reciting scriptures. He loved hiking, fishing and spending time outdoors.

Greg was a thoughtful man and always made a point to send greeting cards to his family members for every special occasion.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Stephen John Erickson, Effie Marie Erickson, Jacob Selmer Tillisch and Ruth Viola Wolcott; father John "Bob" Erickson and mother Gladys Rockwell. Greg is survived by children Todd Erickson and Jennifer Erickson, Trevor Erickson and Courtney Torgerson; grandchildren Ella, Mica, Owen and Eli; brothers Steve Erickson (Teddy) and Bruce Erickson (Nancy).

Greg will always be remembered for his caring heart and warm smile.
