Life ended too soon for Dana R. Dube on Friday, Aug. 22, 2014, at age 65, after a long battle with cancer. He now lives with the sun on his face and the wind at his back forever.

Dana loved working and playing outdoors. Born in Beverly, Mass., he moved to Coeur d'Alene in 1974 not long after graduating from Brown University in Providence, R.I.

In his youth Dana excelled at track, football and candlepin bowling. He enjoyed working as a carpenter, mostly building custom homes with others in the trade who became treasured friends.

Dana often mentioned the happiness he discovered in his adult life was due to the path he traveled with Patty, his wife and true companion of many years.

Important highlights in Dana's life were times shared with friends traveling, camping, running, bicycling, skiing, hiking, playing softball and many other activities. Great times and terrific memories happened on the golf course, but we hesitate to mention lifetime highlights with regard to Dana's golf game.

Family and friends are too numerous to list here. Come celebrate the life of Dana R. Dube at 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014, at the Estate at Elk Point in Coeur d'Alene. Share your laughter and tears over memories and stories of Dana.

The event is hosted by Dana's wife, Patricia Dube, Dana's son, Shane Hubbard, and his sister, Paula Cormier. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Dana's memory to Hospice of North Idaho, The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Center in Coeur d'Alene, or the Museum of North Idaho.
