As promised in Sunday's editorial, here is the first of two quizzes designed to test our readers' knowledge of local civics.

For some, we know answering these questions correctly will be a breeze.

But we also know, based on recent survey results, that many will reach for their smart phones or keyboards to find the answers. We've published the answers on this page, so you don't have to look far.

1. A citizen is eligible to vote in a city election provided he or she has resided in the city for at least 30 days and meets all other voter eligibility requirements.

4. The general election for mayors and councilmembers is held on the Tuesday following the first Monday in November of odd-numbered years.
