SHERIFF: Press aids crime prevention

| August 27, 2014 9:00 PM

Recently the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office has released several media releases pertaining to crime prevention. On April 24, a media release was sent out regarding a new program KCSO was starting called “Home Safety Security Check.” The Coeur d’Alene Press along with other news agencies released the information about the program. The majority of the calls and emails KCSO received for appointments were generated from the Coeur d’Alene Press.

On June 25, another media release was generated for a crime prevention program, “ID A KID” at the Target Store in Coeur d’Alene. The event was very successful with KCSO fingerprinting and photographing approximately 100 children. During the three-hour event, numerous parents (especially mothers) advised us they had recently read about the “ID A KID” in the Coeur d’Alene Press, and were there specifically for this event.

I would like to thank you and your staff for helping make the above crime prevention programs very successful.

BEN WOLFINGER, sheriff
