Jolliff records hat trick as T-Wolves stop Hawks

COEUR d'ALENE - Alissa Jolliff recorded a hat trick, all coming in the second half, as the host Lake City Timberwolves beat the Lakeland Hawks 6-0 in a nonleague match on Tuesday afternoon at the Irma Anderl Soccer Complex.

"We definitely had good opportunities in the first half, but weren't efficient with our chances," Lake City coach Matt Ruchti said. "We were more composed in the second half and they were able to go out and execute. Lakeland plays hard and has some young talent and made our players work for what they got."

Courtney Hanson had two goals for Lake City (1-0), which hosts Hazen High of Seattle on Sept. 6.

Danielle Dowd had eight saves for Lakeland (0-2), which travels to Timberlake on Sept. 4.

MOSCOW - Erica Simpson recorded a hat trick and Alli Crain had a goal and an assist to help the Trojans beat the Bears in a nonleague match at Moscow Junior High.

"It was hot down there and the weather took its toll on both teams," Post Falls coach Sarah Stevens said. "Just like against Sandpoint, we're working through some formation and execution things that I was happy to see. When you give up four goals, there's still some things to work on."

Post Falls (2-0) hosts Mt. Spokane on Sept. 6.

PRIEST RIVER - Midfielder Rachel Hines scored her first career goal to jumpstart the Panthers in a win against the Spartans in the season and Intermountain League opener for both schools.

Three different Panthers scored in a well-balanced attack, with two goals scored by Abby Bartlett.

"Everybody played well offensively," Coeur d'Alene Charter coach Dave Baxter said. "We moved the ball a lot better than last year, so I was pleased with that. We took some growth steps this year."

Coeur d'Alene Charter travels to Bonners Ferry on Sept. 4.

SANDPOINT - Konnar Skindlov and Devin Kohles each scored a goal, and Garrett Boyce posted a shutout in goal, leading the Vikings past the Bulldogs in the nonleague opener for both at Pine Street Field.

"I like how we competed. We're not looking for results this early in the season," Coeur d'Alene coach Jeff Lake said. "We went up against a beat-up team, and we know they'll be better next time."

Sandpoint, playing without injured starters Amos Crossingham, C.J. Crane, Nick Rapoport and Koen Conner, managed only two shots on goal in the loss.

Coeur d'Alene travels to Moscow on Thursday.

POST FALLS - Noah Gondo had four saves for the Trojans in a scoreless draw with the Bears.

"The boys had some serious problems trying to find the back of the net today and with a couple of injuries, I ended up having to go deep into my bench to field a team," Post Falls coach John Mueller said. "The boys didn't play badly, we just definitely have some work we need to do."

Post Falls (1-0-1) hosts Sandpoint on Tuesday.
