PREP BOYS SOCCER: Tigers win first boys soccer match

SPIRIT LAKE - The Timberlake Tigers made their prep boys soccer debut a memorable one, beating the St. Maries Lumberjacks 5-1 in Intermountain League action on Monday night at Timberlake High.

Mike Baier, Vance Kistler, Cody Bentley, Steven Simpson and Thomas Hauck each scored for the Tigers (1-0), who are back in action on Thursday at Priest River.

"I thought they played great for not knowing what we were diving into," Timberlake coach Bert Bentley said. "It's nice to get off to a good start and everybody is really excited."

St. Maries (0-1) are off until Tuesday, when they will travel to face the Spartans at Priest River.
