Grace E. Westberg, 92
Grace E. Westberg, 92, died Aug. 19, 2014, at Gritman Hospital in Moscow, Idaho.
Grace was born April 2, 1922, to Pete and Laura Petersen, the fifth of six children. She grew up in the Cornwall area, and attended school in Moscow.
In October 1942, Grace married the love of her life, Glen H. Westberg. They enjoyed 71 inseparable years together, working side by side on the family farm on Lenville Road and raising two sons.
When not farming, Grace and Glen spent many years traveling to Arizona in the winter months, where they developed a love of rock collecting. During those years, Glen developed a lifelong passion for turning the rocks they had collected into jewelry items. Created with patience and perfection, always assisted by Grace, they would give these special jewelry pieces to those they loved.
In later years, Grace and Glen enjoyed traveling in a motor home, going on cruises, attending a family wedding in Fiji, and traveling through Scandinavia. Grace and Glen enjoyed working on the family cabin at Coeur d'Alene Lake, and always welcomed anyone and everyone to stop by.
Grace loved all children, and through the years cared for and made a difference in many children's lives. She was happiest when surrounded by children, and was never known to turn down a chance to be with the grandchildren.
It is impossible to talk about Grace without her husband, Glen, because they were always together, and throughout their entire lives they were on the go, attending any event they were invited to, staying to the end, having enjoyed every minute of socializing. Grace and Glen enjoyed people dropping by, staying long, sharing food, hoping more would show up, and wondering why you had to go.
Grace was preceded in death by her husband, Glen, in December 2013; and siblings Muriel, Wes, Wilbert, and Leona. She is survived by sons James L. Westberg (Mary) of Moscow, and Jerald Jeffrey Westberg (Pam) of Coeur d'Alene; grandchildren Jansi, Jamie, Stacy and Nicholas; great-grandchildren Noemi, James and Caitlin; and brother, Pete, of Sandpoint, Idaho.
Cremation has taken place, and a joyous celebration of Grace's life is planned to take place from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 12, 2014, at Schierman's Clubhouse & Event Center, 3225 Robinson Park Road in Moscow. For those who knew Grace (and Glen), it would be most appropriate to come early and stay late.
The family suggests a memorial gift either on-line or sent by mail to Northwest Children's Home, P.O. Box 1288, Lewiston, ID 83501.
