Suspect apprehended in Corner Bar shooting

COEUR d'ALENE - Coeur d'Alene Police apprehended the suspect accused of firing a gun outside a Fourth Street bar Saturday night. Another man received minor injuries in the incident.

Erik Henninger, 32, of Coeur d'Alene, was arrested just after 4:30 p.m. Sunday for felony aggravated assault and felony aggravated battery.

Officers responded to the report of a disturbance at 10:18 p.m. Saturday at the Corner Bar, 1628 N. Fourth Street.

Upon arrival, the first officer on scene was told a male had fired a gun in the north parking lot of the bar.

The responding officer gave chase on foot, following the suspect to the area of Fifth Street and Spruce Avenue.

Coeur d'Alene Officer A.J. Winstead and her K-9 partner Pecco were deployed to track the suspect. A multi-agency perimeter was set up by Idaho State Police, Kootenai County Sheriff Office and Coeur d'Alene Police. The police dog tracked the suspect for a distance in the area, but was unable to locate him.

The individual injured by the discharge of the gun was not transported for medical treatment.

The investigation and apprehension of Henninger was a cooperative effort between the Coeur d'Alene Police Department and North Idaho Violent Crimes Task Force.
