Aromatherapy oils and healing products to help balance body, mind and spirit are the emphasis of Pretty Angel Botanicals & Gifts. Owner Lorri Simpson plans to open her shop Sept. 1 in Suite 1970 at 2050 Main St. in Riverstone. Phone 664-2786. Check www.prettyangelbotanicals.com.

"We have a blending bar area where we can create a custom oil blend, perfume or cologne along with bath and body products," she said. "We love to surround ourselves and customers with unique art, jewelry, clothes and one-of-a-kind gifts."

Simpson had a similar store called Innerspace in the Luxor Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas for 15 years. Hours in the new store here will be 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.

STCU underway at Crossroads

Kootenai County's third branch of Spokane Teachers' Credit Union (STCU) is under construction in the southwest corner of the Crossroads (Winco) Center at Ramsey Road and Appleway.

The 4,242-square-foot location should open in January with a craftsman-style look with exposed beams and solar panels. It will have three 24-hour ATMs (two walk-ups and one drive-through), a clerk drive-through and a staff of seven.

Founded in 1934, STCU is a not-for-profit financial cooperative with 129,000 member-owners and $1.9 billion in assets. Among the top 100 credit unions nationwide, STCU has 18 branches with other North Idaho locations on Government Way and in Post Falls and Bonner County. Check www.stcu.org.

New building at Third/Harrison

Fortus Realty, Bistline Law and Ruth J. Fullwiler Law will be the primary occupants of new locations under construction at 1205 N. Third St. (northwest corner with Harrison Avenue). Completion should be early September.

Owner Denise Lundy describes Fortus Realty as "a boutique brokerage founded on the premise of offering quality, honesty and integrity to each real estate transaction." The five agents have 105 years experience of selling real estate in North Idaho. The current address is 1423 Government Way.

Specializing in general and civil litigation, Arthur Bistline has been practicing law here for 18 years. Ruth Fullwiler has practiced here for 23 years and focuses on family law, real estate, wills and probate.

The north building of the complex will be available for professional office space. Contact Lundy at 765-5556.

Auto Center NW moves

Quality car care is the emphasis of Auto Center Northwest in a new location at 6520 Government Way. Formerly at 164 E. Hanley Ave., the new place is obvious when you see Meynard, a 1957 Chevy pickup (with a face) that dresses up for the holidays.

A certified NAPA AutoCare Center, the business provides the benefits of an established national company with the personal, full-service touch of employees with 160 (!) years of experience. Key people are owners Leonard and Karen Moglia, their son Sean, technicians James Tiffany, Dan McCumber, Ben Browne, Jeff Hildesheim and Ken Kennedy and office manager Yvette Rudolph.

Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. Phone 762-8727. Check www.autocentercda.com.

Now for the Tidbits

- Watch for news on The Vault downtown, Cd'A Montessori Preschool at Ramsey/Dalton and a brewpub at 1710 N. Second St. Spies also squealed that a Cracker Barrel corporate jet was at the Cd'A Airport and a Denny's eatery is planned for Crossroads.

- Guests from England, daughter Mariah and I really enjoyed tours of the Sierra Silver Mine in Wallace and the Crystal Gold Mine in Kellogg. Both of our guides were terrific, knowledgeable and personable. Their gift stores were interesting and reasonable, and panning for special rocks was fun.

- Words meaning directions are lowercase (go north to Hayden) and regions are uppercase (we live in the Northwest).

- They were too close to close the door.

- The San Francisco cable cars are the only mobile national monuments.
