COEUR d'ALENE - Area residents can learn about energy efficiency, managing their home energy bills and more at the free Avista Energy Fair, 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Avista Pavilion in McEuen Park, 420 E. Front St.

The event will include demonstrations and free energy-saving materials to help keep homes comfortable and safe for the winter ahead.

The fair features:

* Demonstrations of how to install energy efficiency materials like rope caulk, window plastic and v-seal (then receive free samples of these and other materials to install at home)

* Free food and beverages, door prizes and activities for kids

* A chance to speak with Avista staff and learn about low-cost and no-cost energy efficiency tips

* A chance to visit with Avista's community partners about services and resources they provide to the community.

Scheduled to attend are: Community Action Partnership, ElderHelp of North Idaho, Heritage Health, Idaho Department of Labor, Money Management International and USDA Rural Development.

"Each year our customers ask for help in managing their energy use and costs during the winter," said Patty Shea, Avista's regional business manager for the Coeur d'Alene area. "It's never too early in the year for us to offer a broad range of ideas and demonstrations that will help residents keep the warm air inside and the cold air outside their homes.

"This event provides a great way for customers to conveniently access Avista's many services. Information about payment options, energy assistance and energy efficiency will be especially helpful to those struggling to pay their bills."

If you need assistance for individuals with disabilities, contact Avista in advance of the event at (509) 495-8024 or email AvistaOutreach@avistacorp.com.
