David Ronald Mourning, 62

David Ronald Mourning, 62, of Coeur d'Alene, passed away Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014, at Hospice House after a very long illness.

David was born March 15, 1952, in Spokane, to parents Eugene C. Mourning and Edna Simpson Mourning. As a child, Dave lived in Kamiah, Kellogg and Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and graduated Coeur d'Alene High School in 1970.

Dave attended North Idaho College where he was student producer of "The Guest Show" on NIC TV. He also graduated from the University of Idaho in 1977, Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education.

Dave taught third grade at Bryan Elementary, and second grade at Winton Elementary in Coeur d'Alene. One of the highlights of David's teaching career was leading the elementary singing group, The Bryan Bear Cubs, along with Principal Robert Olson. He played guitar and loved music, especially the Beatles. David was an avid tennis player and a member of the Coeur d'Alene Tennis Association, and competed in numerous tournaments around the area.

David was preceded in death by his parents - Eugene in 1973, and Edna in 1991. He is survived by his sister, Martha Vernon Church of Dalton Gardens, Idaho; and nephews, Brian Church of Boise/Dalton Gardens, and Eric Church of Coeur d'Alene. Special thanks to David's Ivy Court "family" for many years of care, and to the nurses of Hospice House for providing comfort during his final days.

"God has prepared a new home for us where there will be no more death, tears or pain" (Rev 21: 1-4).

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014, at Riverview Cemetery, Coeur d'Alene. English Funeral Chapel is in care of arrangements. The family prefers memorials in David's name be made to Hospice House in Coeur d'Alene.
