MOSCOW - The Vandal defense created five turnovers and recorded nine sacks while the offense scored 12 touchdowns and two field goals, leaving Idaho head coach Paul Petrino feeling like his team is more consistent on both sides of the football after Idaho's second fall scrimmage on Saturday.

"Both sides of the ball got more consistent," the second-year head coach said. "Walking off the field now it seems pretty equal. Both sides got after each other and that's want we want. That's why we didn't go as many plays as we normally do. For the most part I was happy with it."

Senior defensive lineman Anthony Rice recorded a team-best four sacks, accounting for all of his tackles on the day, while Jayshawn Jordan had three sacks and an interception. Ryan Edwards had a team-high nine tackles, Doyin Sule had eight, and Jordan and Russell Siavii each added seven.

Quarterbacks Chad Chalich and Matt Linehan continued to battle for the stating gig. Chalich, a Coeur d'Alene High product, completed 15 of 22 passes for 195 and two touchdowns, and Linehan completed 19 of 33 for 263 yards and two touchdowns, but both threw a pair of interceptions.

"They can't turn the ball over," Petrino said of the two before noting their improvement. "I've got to watch it on tape because they both got better this week but they can't turn the ball over and can't miss wide open touchdowns. We just have to keep getting better. We have two more weeks to get better."

True freshman Jake Luton engineered two touchdown drives to close out the scrimmage, going 5 for 9 for 65 yards.

Kristoffer Ologbode led the ground game with 158 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries, and Coeur d'Alene's Deon Watson was Idaho's top receiver with seven catches for 76 yards and one touchdown catch from Chalich on a 16-yard pass.
