IPNF meeting

| August 16, 2014 9:00 PM

The Idaho Panhandle National Forest is holding a public meeting to discuss the potential for a project in the Jasper Mountain area of the Priest Lake Ranger District. The meeting will take place Aug. 25 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Priest River Event Center, 5399 Highway 2, Priest River.

This project would occur in an insect and disease area designated under section 602 of the Healthy Forest Restoration Act; therefore, one objective of this project will be to reduce the risk or extent of, or increase resilience to, insect and disease infestations.

The reasons for this initial meeting are to:

* Clarify how the Agriculture Act, also known as Farm Bill of 2014, amended the Healthy Forest Restoration Act.

* Introduce the public to the broader, potential project area.

* Give an overview of the potential collaborative process for developing and implementing this project.

Information about the Jasper Mountain project and this meeting can be found on the project webpage www.fs.usda.gov/projects/ipnf/landmanagement/ projects. Questions should be directed to Tera Little, Project Team Leader, at teralittle@fs.fed.us or (406) 329-3146.
