Agnes Christine LeVesque, 79

Chris LeVesque died Aug. 10, 2014, of pancreatic cancer at her son's home in Oregon.

Agnes Christine Laughter LeVesque was born on Jan. 20, 1935, in Chesterfield, S.C., the second of six children born to Maggie and Alfred Laughter. She was raised in Saluda, N.C., where she graduated high school.

Chris attended Montreat College in Montreat, N.C. She was the first person in her family to attend college where she earned a BA and MA in Education from New York State University College at Buffalo, a Masters in Education/Administration from the University of Idaho, and a Masters in Education/Special Education from Lewis-Clark State College. She was a beloved teacher and principal, and could fondly remember every child entrusted to her care. She was a strong advocate for life-long learning, and supported many charities.

Chris was an extraordinary woman that left joy in every life she touched. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Maggie and Alfred; brothers Joe and James Laughter; sister Betty Fae Laughter; and grandchild, Matthew Roberts.

Chris is survived by her husband of 46 years, John; children Sara Bresnahan, Jerry LeVesque, and Mike LeVesque (Debbie); grandchildren Jon and Jason Roberts, Courtney LeVesque, Lyndsay Maderis, Robert LeVesque, and John Nicols; eight great grandchildren; and her two sisters, Nancy and Nettie.

Per her wishes, a small, informal service will be held in memory of Chris at 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18, 2014, at the home of her son Mike, 39299 Jasper-Lowell Road, Fall Creek, Ore. The interment of her ashes into the ocean will be Aug. 30, 2014.
