Singers sought

| August 15, 2014 9:00 PM

The Northwest Sacred Music Chorale is actively seeking new singers to join in the 2014-2015 season.

An audition for the Chorale provides an opportunity for potential singers to hear their own voices, explore sight-reading skills and share a bit about themselves. The audition process takes about 10 minutes.

During the interview, singers will perform a piece of their choice (a hymn, art song, aria, "Happy Birthday" or anything) no longer than three minutes in length. It is suggested singers choose a classical art song or aria. Memorization of the selected piece is not required and piano accompaniment by Marietta Hardy will be provided.

Although it is important for members of the Chorale to possess a high level of musical and vocal abilities, a conscientious and diligent work ethic is also valued.

Weekly rehearsals will take place Tuesdays from 6-9 p.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church in Post Falls, located at 417 N. Henry St.

The Chorale will conduct two fall shows and a Christmas concert as well as three in the spring, plus a dress rehearsal for each. Rehearsal materials such as concert music, CDs and referral to practice websites are available to those who are not expert enough to learn what needs to be learned in rehearsals.

The Northwest Sacred Music Chorale is a nonprofit organization comprising of 70 members from the Inland Northwest and has been promoting quality choral from its inception in 2000. Its primary focus is to provide beautiful and uplifting music based on the belief that music is an art form that transcends all boundaries of religious creeds and brings unity, peace and joy to all who attend its concerts.

Anyone interested in auditioning can contact Judy Horton with questions and confirm a time for the audition at tomandjudi@imaxmail.net or 665-0871.
