The Post Falls Police Department is offering chances to speak up and hang out later this month.

The next "Coffee with a Cop" will be Wednesday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Donut Dugout, 1603 E. Seltice Way, while the fourth annual Cops-n-Kids and Rodders-n-More Open House will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at the police station, 1717 E. Polston Ave.

At the free open house, there will be K-9 and military working dog demonstrations, music, tours of the police station and a tribute to first responders at noon with a short parade of emergency vehicles.

There will also be presentations on police programs, fingerprinting with kids, a car show and other activities.

Pre-registration for the car show is $10 and a donation of a non-perishable food item per vehicle. Registration the day of the event is $15 and a donation of a non-perishable food item. Pre-registration of vehicles is desirable, but not required.

The Emergency Vehicle Owners and Operators Association will manage and sponsor the food drive.

The open house kicks off on Friday, Aug. 22, at 6 p.m. with Post Falls Police-escorted car cruise that departs from the police station. There is no charge to participate in the cruise, but pre-registration is required.

At the "Coffee with a Cop" session, the first cup of coffee is on PFPD. It's a time when police and citizens meet together in an informal, neutral setting to discuss community issues and build relationships. A gun lock will be given to everyone who attends.
