McEUEN: Respect in '56, not in '14

The Real Story of McGuen Park:

According to Scott Reed we should all be very happy that Coeur d’Alene residents VOTED to make the land next to Tubbs Hill a park and pay for it patiently with private money and grants over 20 years.

BUT now we should be happy that we had no vote on what should be done with McEuen Park and our tax dollars spent to pay for it all during bad economic times.

Scott, most of us were for the park, but NOT for being left out on the planning, given no vote and having our tax dollars spent like it was the City Council’s play-money.

Millions of dollars have been wasted and your beautiful tree was cut down for a weird carnival looking “sculpture.”

Thanks for trivializing so many of your fellow citizens’ concerns as simply annoying “clouds.” Glad you and your fellow citizens were given a voice and respect back in 1956. We wish we were given the same today.

HEATH WILTSE
