Thelma Bullard, 87

Thelma Bullard, 87, of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, passed away Aug. 4, 2014, in Coeur d'Alene.

Thelma was born March 28, 1927, in Gainesville, Ga., to George and Vera (Westmorland) Barrett. Thelma's mother raised show dogs and her father was a WWI veteran. He owned the Crescent Ice Cream Co. in Gainesville and barely escaped with his life when the ice cream store collapsed during the famous Georgia earthquake of 1936.

Thelma met her husband, Richard, in Gainesville when she was training to be a nurse during WWII. Richard was attending a special naval school in Gainesville. Thelma and Richard were married in January 1946, and were together 68 years, 6 months and 19 days.

Thelma enjoyed accompanying Richard in his travels, and together they had the opportunity to travel to many different countries. On one trip they visited seven different countries in just 21 days!

Thelma also enjoyed being a homemaker, and was truly the "heart of the home."

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Vera, and brother George Jr. Thelma is survived by her two children, son Barrey Bullard, daughter Patricia Gail, and their families; and her 96-year-old aunt, Clara Temple of Augusta, Ga.

Visitation will be from noon to 4 p.m., Monday, Aug. 11, at English Funeral Chapel, Post Falls. A Rosary will be said at 5:30 p.m., Monday Aug. 11, with a Requiem Mass at 8 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 12, at Immaculate Conception Church in Post Falls. Burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Post Falls.
