LEWISTON - Washington State football held its first scrimmage of fall camp, working through roughly 60 plays at Sacajawea Middle School on Saturday afternoon.

The Cougars turned in a couple highlights in their first "live" action of camp as the offense scored three touchdowns and two field goals while the defense recorded three sacks and picked off two passes.

Quarterback Connor Halliday went 11 of 16 for 95 yards including a 7-yard touchdown pass to wideout Rickey Galvin who jumped to back the catch before falling over the goaline for the score. Luke Falk guided the second unit, completing 9 of 15 passes for 96 yards. Redshirt freshmen Connor Ennis went 6 of 9 for 47 yards while true freshman Peyton Bender went 6 of 8 for 38 yards including a pair of short touchdown throws.

Kristoff Williams led all pass catchers with 36 receiving yards while running back Marcus Mason led all players with four receptions. Wideouts Tyler Baker and Daniel Lilienthal each caught short touchdown passes from Bender.

For the defense, linebacker Cyrus Coen turned in the first big play, picking off scrambling Halliday in the red zone to end a scoring threat. The other interception came late in the scrimmage as freshmen linebacker Chandler Leniu jumped a short rout to pick off Ennis. The Cougars also saw defensive tackles Robert Barber and Toni Pole each burst through the line to record sacks before Jeff Waldner and Hercules Mata'afa combined for another sack late in the day.

Redshirt-freshman kicker Erik Powell converted his only two field goal attempts, hitting from 32 and 29 yards, respectively.

The Cougars continue fall camp today at 2:30 p.m.
